Effective Strategies to Boost Audience & Media Engagement through Your PR Content

During our upcoming Media Coffee, Eswari Kalugasalam Lawson, PR Director at Leo Burnett, will be sharing her insights on creating effective PR campaigns. Zan Azlee, a media professional with journalism background and a passionate documentary filmmaker, will be highlighting on the complexities of digital media. Last but not least, Ivlynn Yap Cheng Theng, Managing Director at Citrine One , will be sharing her knowledge on the media landscape as well as journalism. After the sharing session by the speakers, the room will be open for discussion where attendees are invited to raise pertinent questions related to the topic.


Profile of Speakers:


Eswari Kalugasalam Lawson has more than 20 years of experience in corporate communications and business development in profit and not-for-profit organizations; as well as providing consultancy services to MNCs and Fortune 50 clients. After reading law in London, she started her career as a journalist. She then moved into corporate communications roles in various capacities including Titan Chemicals, Asian Strategy and Leadership Institute, World Islamic Economic Forum Foundation and The ICLIF Leadership and Governance Centre.

 

She currently heads the PR specialization units of PR and CSR and is also the corporate communications lead for Leo Burnett Malaysia and Publicis One Malaysia. Since joining Leo Burnett, she has won Gold award South East PR Agency of the Year 2015, PR Agency of the Year Malaysia 2015, Silver for Marketing Excellence Award for CSR for AEON Foundation and Best Use of Video for PR in 2016.

 

Zan Azlee is a media professional based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. He started his career in 2000 as a print journalist for The Sun and then as a broadcast journalist at NTV7. He founded Fat Bidin Media in 2003. The services he provides include directing, producing, scriptwriting, videography, news reporting/journalism and consultation for broadcast, print and New Media. 

 

His last senior position was as the Senior Editor for Digital Media at Astro Awani. He is also a contributing correspondent for CNN International, Al Jazeera International, GlobalPost, The Netherlands’ VPRO Metropolis TV, a videojournalist for VJ Movement and Esquire magazine. He also wrote a column and provides video and multimedia content for The Malaysian Insider.

 

Zan is an independent filmmaker who has produced and directed numerous films that have gone on to screen at local and international film festivals such as the Malaysian Video Awards, Berlin International Film Festival, Bangkok International Film Festival, New York Asian-American Film Festival and Singapore International Documentary Film Festival. His documentaries have won awards at the Festival Filem Malaysia, Anugerah Seri Angkasa and Malaysian Video Awards. 

 

Zan has written four non-fiction books which are A guide to the Internet (2003), Operation Nasi Kerabu: Finding Patani in an Islamic Insurgency (2007), The Adventures of a KL-ite in Afghanistan (2014) and Guide to Independent Filmmaking (2015). Zan and his company Fat Bidin Media has been involved in many television productions (news and current affairs, documentaries) for many clients such as Hallmark Channel, Discovery Travel & Living, Media Prima Bhd and ASTRO. He is also a volunteer videographer for MERCY Malaysia.


Ivlynn Yap Cheng Theng has 22 years of experience in journalism, production, online web property, advertising, event management and regional marketing communications roles in local and multinational companies. She is always driven by her philosophy that nothing is impossible to do. In 2001, she established her own consultancy agency, Citrine One. While based in HK, her articles were front page anchor news for 36/52 issues of ACW in 1996.

 

An avid speaker on communications, public relations and media relations, Cheng Theng has spoken in Asian Business Forums, invited to be moderator of panel sessions and has trained both CEOs in local and multinational companies. Under her guidance and leadership, Citrine One was accorded Finalist under the Public Affairs Campaign of the Year Award at the Malaysia Public Relations Consultants’ Association (MPRCA) 5th Award Ceremony in 2011. Citrine One has also been acknowledged as The Top 10 Of Advertising & Public Relations in Malaysia by Top 10 of Malaysia Magazine.
